Using AstateSecure to authenticate an iPhone, iPad, or iTouch is a more convenient and secure way to connect these devices to ASU's wireless network.  The configuration is a relatively easy one and will replace the web-authentication that AstateAnywhere requires.

For a first-time setup, please follow the instructions below.  Note that these instructions were made with an iPhone running iOS version 4.0.  Other versions may have slightly different screens, but the actions should be similar.

If you have already configured your device for AstateSecure and have changed your password, instructions for re-configuration follow afterward.

If you are having problems connecting to the wireless network in general, please turn your iPhone/iPad completely off by holding in on the power/lock button, and then turning it back on by the same method.  This fixes most of the wireless problems that we see with these devices.

FIRST TIME SETUP INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1: Go to “Settings”.

Step 2: Select "Wi-Fi"

Step 3: If you are in range for ASU's wireless network, then you should see "AstateSecure" as a possible network.  Select "AstateSecure".

Step 4a: If you are faculty or staff, please enter your username EXACTLY as it is in the example above.  DO NOT use the format "rwolf@astate.edu".  Then enter your domain logon password.  If you have the option, leave the mode set to "Automatic".  Select the "Join" button at the top right to finish the configuration.  Note that if you change your password, you may need to follow the instructions at the bottom of this document to re-configure your iPhone/iPad.

Step 4b: If you are a student, please enter your username in the format of the example above.  DO NOT use ima.redwolf, that is only an example, you will need to use your username.  DO NOT use the format of "ima.redwolf@smail.astate.edu".  For the password, enter your ASU email password.  If you have the option, leave the mode set to "Automatic".  Select the "Join" button at the top right to finish the configuration.  Note that if you change your password, you may need to follow the instructions at the bottom of this document to re-configure your iPhone/iPad.

Step 5: After selecting "Join" you should be taken back to the "Wi-Fi Networks" page.  You should now see AstateSecure with a checkmark beside it.  You are now connected to AstateSecure.

RE-CONFIGURATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1: Go to “Settings”.

Step 2: Select "Wi-Fi"

Step 3: Select "AstateSecure".

Step 4: Select "Forget this Network"

Step 5: Select the large red "Forget" button.

Step 6: Select the "Wi-Fi Networks" arrow at the top-left of the screen to go back to the Wi-Fi Networks page.
